Creative Journey

Roma Handa is an Indian contemporary abstract artist whose practice explores the relationship between spirituality, intuition, consciousness and human experience. Through layered mixed-media compositions, she creates works characterised by texture, movement, depth and contemplative expression, inviting viewers to discover personal meaning within the interplay of form and emotion.

Her artistic language embraces experimentation with materials and surfaces, allowing each composition to evolve organically. Moving beyond literal representation, Roma uses abstraction as a means of expressing subtle energies, inner reflections and dimensions of experience that often transcend words. Her work reflects an ongoing dialogue between the tangible and intangible, the personal and universal.

Roma’s professional journey includes a significant solo exhibition, Main Aur Meri Shakti, presented at Open Palm Court, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, from 2–5 May 2024. Featuring 25 paintings and curated by Shabana Raza, the exhibition explored a deeply personal artistic vision. She also participated in Winter Vibes at Lokayata Art Gallery, Hauz Khas, New Delhi, in February 2024, further contributing to the contemporary art exhibition landscape. Her exhibition activity also includes participation in the India Art Festival and Moments of Art, an online exhibition organised by Sagar’s Art Stream in 2022.

Beyond her exhibition practice, Roma conducts art workshops that encourage creative exploration, individual expression and a deeper engagement with the artistic process. As she expresses it, “Every art piece I create is a projection of my love for the eternal.” This sentiment captures the essence of her practice: an evolving exploration of the infinite through the language of visual art.

Her artistic philosophy resonates particularly with मैं शून्य हूँ (Main Shunya Hoon), where the concept of shunya represents inner openness, surrender and the possibility of transformation. Through her work, Roma invites viewers to pause, look inward and experience art as a bridge between consciousness and creation.
